This is probably the starkest, most truthful, most terrible and yet beautiful treatment of [ranching] I've seen. It will offend many, who prefer the glamour treatment--but it is a true portrait of the loneliness and pervading melancholy of cowboying; and of its compensations in nature, in human relationships.
