Although highly effective, the conventional tools for advanced analysis of switching regulators in SMPS are beyond the reach of many working power supply designers. This text presents a concise, easily applicable analytical technique that will allow even a novice designer to create a comprehensive computer model of an SMPS. By eliminating preliminary hand calculations and model component development, this technique structures the activity so that the computer does as much of the work as possible, leading to easy analysis of the computer model. Such a model enables the designer to perform first and second order assessments, as well as worst-case scenario analysis.
